Red Sleeves - The Fierce Apache

Red Sleeves (1975-76) Gabriel Industries
Sometimes friend and sometimes foe of the Lone Ranger.

I have seen a lot of these for sale "loose" that have
a lever action rifle. Every one i have seen in the package
has the rifle pictured above. I am curious if this figure was
issued with both rifle versions? It was not uncommon for factories
to run out of an accessory and substitute it with something different.
This example was boxed and still sealed in the factory plastic bag
which i then cut open to liberate him for display! Cringe. :)
The box is really rough so i didn't bother to show a pic.

Captain Jack Army .45 Rack Toy

Awesome little Die-Cast .45 pistol.
The manufacturer is unknown.
It is speculated that these were produced in the late 1960's.
This is from a lot of "old store stock" rack toys that i got
from a buddy that is an antique dealer.
I kinda want to shoot it! :)

Custom Lone Ranger Figure

This is a custom Lone Ranger figure that i created using
a stock Gabriel 10" figure from the 70's.

In 1938 the Lone Ranger made his comic debut.
He wore a red shirt, blue pants, yellow kerchief and the
infamous white hat and mask. In the early 1940's his outfit
changed to red shirt, black pants, and black kerchief.
That is the iteration this figure is based on.
It started life with the standard light blue outfit based on
Clayton Moore's attire popularized in the 1950's TV series.
The outfit was faded and a little dingy, so i took some Rit dye
to it and gave it a new life. I sewed the black kerchief from a fabric
swatch to match the design of the original red version.

Lone Ranger in "The Crooked Gambler" Disguise

Crooked Gambler Disguise for The Lone Ranger
(1975) Gabriel/Marx

These toys were for ages 3 and up.
Can you imagine the outrage that would occur if you
gave a 3 year old a toy that included a 12 gauge shotgun
and a bottle of whiskey nowadays?
This is one of the reasons the 70's were so great!!!

In my opinion this is the best head sculpt in the entire
Lone Ranger collection. His expression is awesome!!

Famous Monsters of Legend - Abominable Snowman Yeti

Famous Monsters of Legend
Abominable Snowman Yeti (1978) Tomland

This could possibly be my favorite figure in
my entire collection. He makes me laugh every time
that i look at him. I would love to get a carded version
some day, one of my "holy grails". The artwork on the
backer card is totally rad. See pic below to be mesmerized!!

.....some day.

Custom "Badlands" Diorama for The Lone Ranger and Tonto

Welcome to the Badlands!!
This is a Diorama that i made for the
10" Lone Ranger and Tonto figures.

Constructed from 1/4" MDF and Sanded Tile Grout.
Painted with four colors of spray paint.

I then added real rocks, weeds and moss.
The artificial Agave Cactus came from Walmart.
The Rattle Snake is made by a German company called Schleich.

Here are our Heroes The Lone Ranger and Tonto
riding their trusty Steeds through the Badlands.

Scout - 11" Tall and 14" Long

Tonto 10" Tall

The feather that is attached to Scout's bridle is an addition.
It came from a 1/6 scale toy line called "Dog Soldiers".

Lone Ranger and Silver

Lone Ranger and Silver (1973-76) Gabriel Industries

Silver - 11" Tall and 14" Long

Lone Ranger - 10" Tall

I got my first Lone Ranger, Silver, and Tonto for Xmas of 1975.
My Grandpa took me to Western Auto to pick them out.
They had a whole aisle of these toys that seemed to go on
forever. In reality it probably wasn't that big, but to my 4 year old
brain it looked like the Great Wall of China!! I played with
those toys until they were destroyed. Glad to have them once again!
