I purchased the Mummy and Wolfman from

the monster super collector Freddie Poe.

He acquired them both in the early 1980's.

Recently i was lucky enough to score a

complete set from an ebay seller. There is

a big debate in the collecting community

as to when these were produced. One 

camp believes them to be made by Marx's

Mexican factory called Plastimarx in the 

1970's. While others believe they were

likely made sometime in the 1960's.

Marx did produce other character figures

in this exact color in the 1960's. 

Unfortunately there is no way to prove 

either scenario definitively. They are

super cool and extremely rare though!!

I got this Phantom figure from a prolific monster

toy collector named Freddie Poe of the famed

"House of Poe" collection. It is a prototype molded

in a "steel blue" color. Freddie acquired it from

a guy named Peter Fritz who was the foremost

expert on Marx toys. When the last Marx factory

closed it's doors in 1980 Peter bought a ton of 

stuff from the people doing the clear-out of the

factory, and got his hands on many prototypes 

and other rarities. Peter sadly passed away in 2017.

The last pic shows it next to an original

"teal blue" figure. Note the crisp detail of

the "steel blue" figure. This is the only one

of these known to exist. I am extremely 

honored to own such an awesome piece

 of Freddie Poe's amazing collection!!!

these awesome die-cast vehicles.

I wish they would have made a

Wolfman, Creature, and Phantom

Horror Hearse. Maybe i will 

make some customs in the future.

This figure is a limited edition exclusive

sold in Target stores.  I can't find an exact

number of how many were produced, but

apparently each store only received a couple.

This edition includes a cool photo card

that is hand signed by Elvira herself!!

The head sculpt is a dead on likeness.
